Prayer: How to approach God and what to expect from Him

As I read the word slowly and with great deliberation, I find that prayer, as taught by Jesus Christ and the Apostles, bears little resemblance to the “name it and claim it” prayers being widely taught today. With great frequency I hear self-proclaimed evangelists and teachers instructing the body to sow their financial seed to God and then to tell God, in no uncertain terms, exactly what material “blessings” they want in return from Him.
