In the 1940’s Agnes Sanford invented a new ministry called “inner healing.” She claimed that during an out-of-body experience that supposedly brought her back to before her birth as a pre-existent soul, Jesus asked her to come into the world to relieve suffering. Sanford gained her inspiration from very questionable sources such as Theosophy, New Thought, the depth psychology of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, and Emmet Fox of the Unity School of Christianity (New Age). She became the mentor of John Sandford, whose inner healing theories are still followed by many. She was also associated with Morton Kelsey, a mystic who was a proponent of the theories of the occultist Jung. The theories and practices of nearly every popular inner healer can be traced back to Sanford or can be shown to be based on the same premises.

The attainment of the ‘Coming Great Church,’ proclaiming one Gospel to the whole world … implies the surrender of distinctive evangelical truth. The one Gospel to be preached certainly will not be the Gospel of salvation through the exclusive merits of Christ. Already we can see the beginning stages of what the Bible prophesies. An incredible worldwide delusion is gathering momentum.

The Emerging Church is not easy to define because it is not a “new” Church being established by new spiritual leaders in opposition to existing established churches. Rather, it is existing spiritual leaders, in existing Christian churches, calling for a need to establish a “new” or more “modern approach” for the modern world that we live in. They say that modern man has outgrown the old established ideas of Christianity and there is a need to redefine Christianity in order to reach the 21st century, or post-modern man, and that the old ways and old church are no longer effective. We need a new kind of Christianity if we are going to make a difference in people’s lives and the world around us.

One of the myths about psychology is that that professional psychological counseling produces greater results than other forms of help, such as self-help or that provided by family, friends, or pastors. Thus, psychological counseling is seen as more effective than Biblical counseling in helping some Christians. This is one of the main reasons why so many professing Christians are training to become psychotherapists.

A British bill to allow some terminally ill patients to end their lives was rejected Friday after it sparked fierce opposition from religious leaders and rival protests outside parliament. In the first vote on the issue in 20 years, 330 lawmakers voted against the backbencher-proposed bill while only 118 backed the proposals. Prime Minister David Cameron was against the bill.

Friedrich Nietzsche challenged the foundations of traditional morality and of Christianity. He believed in the creativity and realities of the world in which we live, rather than any contemplation of a world beyond. In The Twilight of the Gods (Götzen-Dämmerung, 1888) he wrote,’I call Christianity the one great curse, the one enormous and innermost perversion, the one great instinct of revenge, for which no means are too venomous, too underhand, too underground and too petty — I call it the one immortal blemish of mankind. … The only excuse for God is that he doesn’t exist.’
