False unity is many churches being preoccupied with social justice, instead of pointing people to the One who will bring eternal justice. False unity is groveling to earn the world’s approval in order to earn the right to share the gospel. This isn’t the kind of fellowship and unity the Bible commands, rather it’s an ecumenical movement leading toward apostasy.

Ecumenism seems plausible because Catholics use words in a way that outsiders don’t understand. Because Protestants don’t understand what Catholics really mean, they think they have a lot of things in common, when in reality, they don’t.

There is a major emphasis in our day on ecumenical unity among evangelicals and Roman Catholics. Those who promote such unity state that both groups are Christian and both are God-honoring systems of faith. But there are substantial differences between the two groups.
