The shameful Social Gospel

by TA McMahon
September 1, 2008

The social gospel is a deadly disease for “people of faith.” It reinforces the belief that salvation can be attained by doing good works, putting aside differences for the common good, treating others the way we want to be treated, acting morally, ethically, and sacrificially—and that doing so will endear humans to God. No. These are self-deceptive strivings that spurn God’s salvation, deny His perfect standard, and reject His perfect justice.

Deep and Wide – by Andy Stanley

Reviewed by Gary E. Gilley

Deep and Wide promotes the seeker-sensitive, market-driven approach of “doing church.” There is virtually nothing in the book that hasn’t been said or done by his “hero” Bill Hybels and others that teach the paradigm. From basing North Point’s programming on surveys and secular management (p. 14), to seeing people as consumers (p. 16) and a target audience that must be attracted.

Evangelical Mysticism?

by McMahon, T.A.

As a former Catholic, it’s hard for me to fathom the evangelical church buying into the religious occultism of Roman Catholicism. It makes no sense. Visit any country where that religion is taken seriously. What becomes obvious is a people who are in the bondage of superstition. On the other hand, I shouldn’t be surprised. Apostasy is growing rapidly, the religion of the Antichrist is taking shape, and mysticism, whether it’s the Catholic variety, the Sufism of Islam, yoga and the gurus of Eastern mysticism, the Shamanism of native religions, or otherwise, is a common yet powerful magnet that draws all religions together.

New Age Spirituality: Leonard Sweet

By Amos 3:7
July 9, 2012

In listening to this cassette-tape series, I found it interesting that Leonard Sweet was talking about the birth of a “New Spirituality” with Rick Warren way back in 1995. Since 9/11, “New Spirituality” is the term that most New Age leaders are now using instead of “New Age Spirituality.”

Why We Should Be Very Concerned About Leonard Sweet and Rick Warren … and Their Plans for the Future

By Lighthouse Trails Editors
November 18th, 2006

Leonard Sweet: He is quoted by Christian authors and leaders frequently. His name appears on many Christian ministry websites, and his books are used in countless Christian seminaries and colleges. Rick Warren endorsed the cover of one of his books (Soul Tsunami) and even did an audio series with him (Tides of Change) in the mid nineties.

The Emergent Church Apostasy

By www.plankandnails.hubpages.

There is a false Christianity propagating within the Biblical sphere of the Church body. It is leading many astray and is highly deceptive because it subtly cloaks itself in the Christian faith, but “worships” Jesus Christ with ancient pagan (Babylonian) ideologies. This form of doctrine is one of the main contributors to the apostasy that is going on within the church today.

The Emergent Church Ideology

By planksandnails.hubpages.com

The Emergent Church movement is a philosophical movement that contradicts Biblical truth, and has corrupted many minds, especially many young people today. Those in the movement believe that there is no absolute certainty when it comes to Biblical truth; therefore, there cannot be any real clarity, or absolutes that can be derived from it. It is a form of “Christianity” that holds to relative truth. It is spirituality that they believe that is “noble” and “humble” in this ideology It is a celebration of ignorance and mystery that downplays truth and the fundamentals of the genuine Christian faith.
