The Old Testament contains numerous prophecies written over 2,500 years ago. Every one of these prophecies was fulfilled in the life of Jesus of Nazareth approximately 2,000 years ago. Even more prophecies concerning the Second Coming of the messiah remained unfulfilled, but the promise of Jesus is that they will be fulfilled in this generation.

Many Christians are at a loss to understand, much less to defend, the “Trinity.” Critics argue that that word is not even found in the Bible. To deal with that issue, we must begin with God, as the Bible itself does.

Atheist Bertrand Russell shocked his generation by questioning Jesus’ existence. He wrote: “Historically it is quite doubtful whether Christ ever existed at all, and if He did we do not know anything about Him.

Have you ever met a man who is the center of attention wherever he goes? Some mysterious, indefinable characteristic sets him apart from all other men. Well, that’s the way it was two thousand years ago with Jesus Christ.

“The claim of resurrection is vital to Christianity. If Christ has been raised from the dead by God, then He has the credentials and certification that no other religious leader possesses. Buddha is dead. Mohammad is dead. Moses is dead. Confucius is dead. But, according to…Christianity, Christ is alive.”

The Old Testament often speaks of God’s love. Though the Israelites repeatedly rejected God and did wrong, God continued to love them – and all other people. The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. (Ex 34:6-7)

The key to understanding the chronology of the events leading up to and including Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection is that there were two Sabbaths in that week, with a day of preparation between them. This makes all of the Gospel accounts fall into place. The fulfillment of Christ’s words become clear. A correct harmonization of all the facts will bear this out.

Was Jesus (Yeshua) really born on December 25th, as the Western Christian Tradition maintains, or does the careful study of Scripture allow us to infer a different time for His advent here on earth? Two cases can be reasonably made: one case for a Tishri (Sukkot) birth in the fall, and the other for the traditional late December date.

Jesus had an amazingly productive ministry, teaching and healing thousands. He attracted large crowds and had potential for much more. He could have healed thousands more by travelling to the Jews and Gentiles who lived in other areas. The Old Testament tells us that God appeared as a human being on several occasions. If Jesus wanted only to heal and teach, he could have simply appeared. But he did more: he became a human. Why? So he could die. To understand Jesus, we need to understand his death. His death is part of the gospel message and something all Christians should know about.

The trial of Jesus of Nazareth was completely illegal. At every point it broke the laws of Israel as well as the laws of Rome.
