Occult symbols are fast replacing Christian symbols in our culture. Therefore, we encourage you to use this list to warn others, especially Christian children who intentionally wear and display them because they are popular.

In earlier articles we examined some of the associations between Eastern religion and Satanism/witchcraft. Now we bring our concerns closer to home by examining the beliefs of some popular American gurus. Among Eastern gurus as a whole, occult practices are widely accepted.

Visualization is the use of mental concentration and directed imagery in the attempt to secure particular goals, whether physical, psychological, vocational, educational, or spiritual. Visualization attempts to program the mind to discover inner power and guidance. It is often used as a means to, or in conjunction with, altered states of consciousness (e.g., as produced by meditation), and is frequently used to develop psychic abilities or make contact with spirits.
by John Weldon and John Ankerberg
Although visualization can be adapted to almost any philosophy, in its popular usage it is loosely tied to a monistic or pantheistic world view that sees humans as divine and creators of their own reality. The practice itself en-hances and perhaps even sets up the development of the monistic (“all is one”) states of consciousness foundational to the New Age movement.

The following material is intended as a brief, general guide to help pastors and concerned Christians assist those who are suffering from occult involvement. Dr. Kurt Koch has had 40 years of counseling the occultly oppressed and his book Occult Bondage and Deliverance is highly recommended. Most of the following material is adapted from pages 85-131 of that book.

There’s a lot of talk about it today; umpteen books are published and more are on the way about lectio divina; and an increasing number of evangelical/Protestant figures are writing about it, endorsing it, and teaching it. Some people think lectio divina simply means to read a passage of Scripture slowly then ponder or think on that Scripture.

Crystal healing is a form of healing that uses crystals or gemstones. The crystals are mainly placed on specific areas of the body called “chakras.” Chakra is a Hindu term meaning spiritual energy. According to this teaching there are seven basic energy centers in the body, each having a color associated with it. Some crystal healers place the same color crystals as the color of the chakras on the person to enhance the flow of energy.

As more and more churches and Christian movements are being boldly deceived into embracing occult principles wrapped in Christian terminology, the discerning believer in Christ must not remain silent!Desiring to educate the local body of Christ about the necessity of biblical discernment in such times, this audio message was given at an informal small group study where Chris formerly served for 10 years as a fellow church planter and pastor.

A group is planning to unveil an 8-foot-tall bronze statue featuring a goat-headed Satan in Detroit during a gathering that’s being billed as the “largest public satanic ceremony in history.” Invitations to “The Unveiling” summoned guests to prepare for “a night of chaos, noise, and debauchery… Come dance with the Devil and experience history in the making.”

Precursors to the Ouija date back to ancient times. In China before the birth of Confucius, similar instruments were used to communicate with the dead. In Greece during the time of Pythagoras divination was done with a table that moved on wheels to point to signs, which were interpreted as revelations from the “unseen world.”
